Hope Writers Challenge - Day 4: Twenty-One
Today’s prompt is twenty-one. The age of twenty-one is a weird age. At least in the US, you’re now legal for most everything. You can go out for a drink with your friends and buy your own drinks instead of your legal friends having to sneak you one (not that I would know anything about that.) If you’re in college you’re a junior or senior and finally starting to see the finish line of at least one degree. You’re a supposedly newly-minted adult. I know at 21 I was still an immature hot mess. I was single. I had just lost a horse right after I turned 21 that was a crushing loss. I still had two years of college ahead of me and was having a hard time figuring out exactly what I wanted to do. Honestly, I was just trying to pay my bills, make good grades, ride as much as I had time, have a little fun here and there, and prayed a lot that the future would be okay. Now that I read those sentences 2002 sounds a lot like the beginning of 2021. I’m still trying to pay my bills, now I help my daughter to hopefully make good grades, ride when I have time, remember to have fun here and there, and pray a lot that the future will be a heck of a lot better than it is right now. When you’re in the thick of the storm it’s hard to remember there was good weather before that and that good weather will come again. I hope you find good weather soon and remember to have a little fun here and there today and tomorrow and all the days that come after.
